Home By Nicky Ji |
A Shakespearean style sonnet about moving from Devon to Essex.
Among rolling green hills a village sits.
From my house a view I'll never forget,
Toy buildings, green carpets, clay dug from pits,
Into a valley they fall unkept.
Near the King's town and sheep a river flows
Entering curling waves of glass so true.
Over parts of red cotton white foam blows,
Happiness swirls around the salt for you.
Giants of granite grey like clouds in the sky,
How tall, I ask, is the stone from the ground?
Rising like an old bird for every eye.
Hear the wind screaming, 'Look what I have found!'
I lived in the beautiful west alone,
But now the streets of Chelmsford are my home.
