Him
By Nicky Ji

Paige and Tanja decided to waste the afternoon away by eating doughnuts. But Paige couldn't relax once she'd seen him.

Paige and Tanja were crouched on a bench, eating their way through a large pack of jam filled doughnuts. The warm afternoon sun was shining across the top of the trees while long, black shadows were starting to crawl over the long grass. The fountain, in the middle of the park, was sparkling like thousands of little crystals as birds drank in its coolness.

Biting into a doughnut, Paige let the sweet, sticky jam slide down her throat. Lazily looking around she suddenly saw him. He was the other side of the fountain, walking on the grass and was absorbed in the physics textbook open in his hand.

Paige could feel a smile creep across her lips when he walked into an old lady, who was now lecturing him about looking where he was going. The smile vanished. Paige had suddenly realised he was now walking towards her. She felt sick: her hands were sweating; her face felt as if it was sunburnt; her head was spinning; and the hand that was holding her doughnut was experiencing its own earthquake. Why did this guy have this effect on her? Paige wanted to hide in a deep, dark hole.
